Uber has announced a new partnership with ixigo, India's leading AI-native travel platform, to introduce train ticket booking on the Uber app. This new feature allows users to book train tickets, check their PNR status, and connect their first and last-mile journeys with Uber, all within a single application.
This initiative is part of Uber's ongoing expansion of intercity travel options in India, leveraging ixigo's advanced train booking technology. Train travel remains a popular mode of long-distance transport in India, with Indian Railways carrying 741 crore passengers in the fiscal year 2025–26. The collaboration aims to simplify train travel by integrating ixigo’s booking capabilities with Uber’s mobility services, offering a more connected travel experience.
Arnab Kumar, Director of Business Development for Uber India and South Asia, stated, "Train journeys are an integral part of how India travels. With Train Ticket Booking on the Uber app, riders can now book their train tickets, check their PNR status, and seamlessly connect to and from the railway station, all within a single app."
Aloke Bajpai, Group CEO, and Rajnish Kumar, Group Co-CEO of ixigo, added, "By partnering with Uber, we're extending that experience beyond the train itself, enabling travellers to plan their journey seamlessly from their doorstep to their destination."
Uber's presence at railway stations across India is already significant, with dedicated pickup and drop-off zones in cities like Ahmedabad, Secunderabad, and Howrah. The addition of train ticket booking further strengthens Uber's multimodal mobility platform, which includes Moto, Auto, Cars, Metro, Intercity Cars, and Buses, reinforcing its vision of becoming a one-stop platform for all travel needs
