Vietjet secures US$6.3b in US agreements

Vietjet has announced a series of strategic agreements with leading US corporations and financial institutions, totalling over US$6.3 billion. The signing ceremony, held in Washington, D.C., was attended by Vietnam’s General Secretary To Lam and senior officials from both nations. These agreements, including a US$5.4 billion deal with Pratt & Whitney for aircraft engines and maintenance services, and a US$965 million financing agreement with Griffin Global Asset Management for Boeing 737-8 aircraft, signify a strengthening of Vietnam-US economic relations.

The agreements are set to enhance Vietjet’s operational capabilities and financial structure. Pratt & Whitney will supply new-generation engines aimed at improving operational performance and reducing emissions, aligning with Vietjet’s green transition strategy. Meanwhile, the financing deal with Griffin Global Asset Management marks a significant step in diversifying Vietjet’s international funding sources.

Vietjet Managing Director Nguyen Thanh Son stated, “These agreements in the United States reflect Vietjet’s strong commitment to expanding the scale of international partnerships and developing a modern, sustainable fleet.”

Beyond their commercial value, these agreements are expected to foster deeper collaboration in technology and finance, contributing to job creation and value chain integration between Vietnam and the US. They also support the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, promoting capital flows and technological collaboration.

These developments reinforce Vietjet’s vision of becoming a globally integrated aviation group, enhancing its competitiveness on the international stage
