Noto Satoyama Airport in Japan is set to reopen as the Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport on 7 July 2026, marking it as the only airport globally to officially carry the Pokémon name. This transformation is part of a collaboration between Ishikawa Prefecture and the Pokémon With You Foundation, aimed at revitalising communities affected by the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake.
Visitors will be greeted by Pokémon-themed decorations from the moment they arrive. The airport's first-floor lobby features a large-scale installation inspired by "Akarui Mirai - A Bright Future," with three-dimensional monuments of Pikachu, Plusle, and Minun. Additionally, a giant Pikachu balloon floats above the second-floor atrium, surrounded by 111 Flying-type Pokémon.
The airport offers more than just visual delights. The second-floor gift shop, Serendipity, sells exclusive merchandise, whilst Restaurant Annon on the third floor serves Pokémon-inspired dishes. The observation deck, Pikachu no Satoyama, showcases a unique Pikachu landscape, reflecting the region's identity.
In mid-July, two Pokémon-themed buses will begin operations, connecting the airport with local attractions like the Wakura Pokémon Footbath and the Nymphia with LOVE monument. These buses will run on weekends and public holidays, excluding winter.
This initiative not only celebrates Pokémon but also highlights Noto's cultural and creative resurgence post-earthquake, inviting visitors to explore a region rich in spirit and innovation
