The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana has announced the grand opening of its Feather Fuel Travel Plaza in Iowa, Louisiana, set for 30 October at 10am. The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a Tribal blessing, and remarks from Tribal leadership, bringing together local dignitaries and representatives from the Coushatta Casino Resort.
Situated on an 11-acre site at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Highway 165, the 14,000-square-foot travel plaza aims to serve both local residents and travellers. It boasts 24 petrol pumps, seven diesel lanes, and a drive-thru, offering a range of snacks, beverages, and personal essentials. "We're proud to open Feather Fuel and bring another Coushatta-owned business to the community," said Coushatta Tribal Chairman David Sickey.
The facility is designed to accommodate larger commercial vehicles with a dedicated lorry pad and offers diesel and ethanol-free fuel. Inside, visitors will find a welcoming environment with fresh food selections, pizza, fountain drinks, and a variety of competitively priced beer, wine, spirits, and tobacco products. Additional fresh food options are planned for the future.
Designed by QK4 and Worth Group, the plaza incorporates the cultural heritage of the Coushatta Tribe with bronze accents and distinctive Tribal motifs. The expansion of the Feather Fuel brand aligns with the Tribe's mission to promote regional economic growth and community development. The new Iowa location marks the second Feather Fuel site, complementing the existing location at the Coushatta Casino Resort.
