Virgin Atlantic has announced the launch of its New Distribution Capability (NDC) in the UK consumer market, aiming to provide a more flexible and connected retailing experience for trade partners. The phased rollout, announced on 15 October 2026, is designed to meet the evolving needs of the industry with a robust solution and comprehensive servicing capability available from the start.

The airline's NDC initiative, developed in collaboration with its partners, promises a smooth transition and ensures partner readiness. Virgin Atlantic plans to enhance its NDC offering over time by introducing additional content, richer ancillary products, and expanded fare options. The launch includes direct and aggregator connections, with GDS aggregation to follow, allowing agents to access NDC content through their preferred channels.

To maintain continuity, Virgin Atlantic will continue to provide content access through existing GDS EDIFACT channels for partners not ready to migrate. The airline has partnered with Travelfusion as the first supported aggregator and plans to expand its aggregator partnerships throughout 2027.

Anthony Uphill, Vice President Sales at Virgin Atlantic, stated, "This is an exciting step forward in our retailing journey, making it simpler for our partners to access the products and services that matter most, whilst creating more choice and a better experience for customers."

Eytan Bicaci Baruh, Vice President Commercial at Travelfusion, added, "We are delighted to support Virgin Atlantic's NDC launch and bring its enhanced content and retailing capabilities to our network of travel sellers."

Virgin Atlantic remains committed to being the airline of choice for UK trade partners, driving innovation and delivering a smarter approach to distribution.
