TDM AWARDS - NOMINATE NOW!

Australia is set to welcome its first five-star river vessel, the PS Australian Star, which will embark on its maiden voyage on 18 September 2026. The paddlesteamer will operate from Echuca, Victoria, offering three, four, and seven-night cruises along the iconic Murray River year-round.

The PS Australian Star, the largest wood-fired paddlesteamer in the Southern Hemisphere, promises to redefine luxury cruising on the Murray River. With a capacity for just 38 guests, the vessel combines the charm of a 19th-century paddlesteamer with modern amenities, including deluxe air-conditioned staterooms, a gourmet restaurant, and multiple outdoor relaxation areas.

Backed by the Victorian Government’s Regional Tourism Investment Fund, the vessel features a hybrid diesel/steam propulsion system powered by an original 1907 wood-fired steam engine. This innovative approach blends nostalgia with modern efficiency, providing an authentic cruising experience.

Guests aboard the PS Australian Star will enjoy all-inclusive journeys that highlight the rich history and natural beauty of the Murray River. Daily excursions will include visits to farm stations, wineries, and heritage towns, with riverside barbecues under starlit skies.

To celebrate the launch, early bird savings of $320 (A$500) per couple are available for bookings made by 30 September 2026. Fares for 2028 start at $2,000 (A$3,125) per person for a three-night cruise, inclusive of meals, excursions, and transfers. Additional offers include a free pre-cruise night at the Mercure Port of Echuca motel for seven-night bookings
