Journey Beyond acquires iconic Crocodile Hotel

Journey Beyond, Australia's leading experiential tourism group, has announced the acquisition of the Kakadu Crocodile Hotel, located in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park.

This move aligns with the company's mission to offer immersive travel experiences in Australia's most extraordinary destinations.

The Crocodile Hotel, known for its unique crocodile shape, is situated in Jabiru and features 110 rooms, a restaurant and bar, conference facilities, an outdoor pool, and an art gallery showcasing local artwork. Chris Tallent, CEO of Journey Beyond, expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating, "This property is more than just a place to stay; it is a gateway to the heart of Kakadu."

Journey Beyond plans significant investment in the hotel to enhance its offerings and attract more visitors to Kakadu. The acquisition complements the group's existing Northern Territory attractions, including The Ghan and Ayers Rock Resort, and underscores its commitment to showcasing Indigenous culture and the region's landscapes.

The hotel operates on land leased from the Mirarr Traditional Owners through the Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation Jabiru Town. Journey Beyond aims to collaborate with the corporation to develop opportunities in employment, education, and enterprise. Sam Waldron, Kakadu Tourism's Director of Sales and Marketing, welcomed the acquisition, noting it as a positive development for tourism in Kakadu and the Top End.

The Crocodile Hotel will continue to operate under its existing management team, now part of Journey Beyond's extensive portfolio of resorts and lodges
