JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa is offering a unique culinary experience with "The Mindful Table," a collaboration with SUKJAI by Pata Obasan, a Michelin-recognised restaurant from Chiang Mai. Running from 10 to 18 October 2026, this event coincides with Thailand's Vegetarian Festival, showcasing plant-based interpretations of Northern Thai classics.
The collaboration features a menu that reimagines traditional Thai dishes without meat, maintaining the aromatic herbs and spices that define the cuisine. Highlights include plant-based versions of Sai Ua and Moo Satay, Khao Soi with crispy noodles, and Grilled Plant-Based Beef with Spicy Jaew Sauce. These dishes are available at Ta-Krai, the resort's Thai restaurant, and Sakura, its Japanese restaurant, where a cross-cultural dish complements the existing menu.
Mathieu Sneyers, Director of Marketing Communications at JW Marriott Khao Lak, emphasised the event's goal: "The Mindful Table is about proving that plant-based Thai food can be every bit as bold and satisfying as the original."
Pata Obasan, the recipe creator behind SUKJAI, brings her expertise in vegetarian Thai cuisine to the collaboration. SUKJAI, listed in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand, is known for its in-house plant-based proteins and commitment to authentic flavours.
The event is part of JW Marriott Khao Lak's broader culinary philosophy, which includes a 27-acre JW Garden that supports local and sustainable dining practices. The Mindful Table invites guests to explore mindful eating and its connection to Thai culinary heritage.
