Balinese government imposes new regulations for foreign tourists
The Provincial Government of Bali announced the implementation of new regulations regarding the behaviour of foreign tourists. Effective as of 24th March under Circular Memorandum Number 7 of 2025, these regulations include admonitions to foreigners to dress appropriately and to present their QR Standar Indonesia (QRSI) whenever they make online payments in Bali. According to Bali governor Wayan Koster: “The Bali Provincial Government’s policy is to inculcate Bali Tourism based on culture, quality, and dignity.” A need to show respect Politeness and respect form the core of the new regulations, and these specifically state that foreign tourists are required to obey all special rules and regulations in effect at all tourism sites and attractions. That said, it is imperative that foreigners should behave respectfully at sacred sites, restaurants, shopping areas, highways, and other public places. At the same time, they must respectfully honour the customs, traditions, arts and culture, and the local wisdom of the Balinese people while undertaking ceremonies and processions. Such respect entails the wearing of modest and appropriate clothing whenever travellers make their way to sacred sites, tourist attractions, public places, and even whilst pursuing other activities in Bali. Stipulations on financial transactions Under the new regulations, travellers are required to pay the foreign tourist tax levy electronically while in Bali or, at the latest, prior to their departure. It is also imperative that foreign visitors must perform foreign exchange transactions only at licensed money changers and banks that hold a licence number and QR code issued by Bank Indonesia. As stated earlier, foreigners are also required to use the QRSI whenever they make payments. Koster added that foreign tourists who violate these rules and prohibitions can expect strict action in the form of sanctions or legal processes provided for under the laws of Indonesia. He said: “Foreign tourists who have not paid the foreign tourist levy will be subject to sanctions in the form of not receiving services at tourist attractions.” Koster further warned that any travellers unable to present a receipt proving payment of the Foreign Tourist Tax may be denied boarding passes at Ngurah Rai Airport or at other exit hubs.

Oshom Bali, the 18-key retreat officially opens its doors in Nuanu Creative City
Oshom Bali, an intentionally designed boutique hotel nestled within the visionary Nuanu Creative City, has officially opened its doors. Located on Bali's pristine Pantai Nyanyi’s black sand beach in Tabanan regency, Oshom is a creative sanctuary for the modern traveller; here, hospitality is given a sophisticated, cheeky twist. From sunrise over the mangroves to sunset over the ocean, Oshom offers a setting as breathtaking as it is serene. Every space invites both stillness and escape, whether through sunset yoga with panoramic views, or intimate corners for quiet reflection. More than a hotel, Oshom is a canvas for self-renewal, connection, and inspiration around every soft curve. "Oshom is a future-forward arts-meets-hospitality concept that offers a barefoot luxury vibe, while creating space for effortless creativity, mindfulness, and sparkly moments," says Daisy Angus, Visionary Founder & Creator of Oshom. "We’ve created a holistic lifestyle resort for the soul. With expansive horizons, guests can completely unwind and relax in moments of curated indulgence and beauty; Oshom is a space where meaningful connections are found and remembered." Where Design Meets Nature: A Harmonising Sanctuary Oshom’s design mirrors its wabi-sabi philosophy – perfection in imperfection – balancing raw natural beauty with refined elegance. Designed with locally rooted craftsmanship in mind, every detail reflects Bali’s artistic heritage. Hand-drawn furniture, reclaimed teakwood, and volcanic sand walls create a rich, textured aesthetic, while bamboo “nests” by architect Pablo Luna provide sculptural spaces for quiet retreat. Bespoke artwork from emerging and established Balinese artists transforms the interiors into a living gallery; walk-in wardrobes adorned with shining disco balls add a dash of joy. Breathable, non-toxic materials, rewilded native flora, and elevated walkways are part of Oshom’s responsible approach to preserving the delicate surrounding ecosystem. The saltwater pool, lined with local Sukabumi stone, matches the handmade lava tiles decorating the pool bar, mirroring the soft, shifting aqua hues of the ocean. Immersive Stays: Ocean Suites & Treehouse Hideaways The 18-key retreat enjoys direct beach access, with 11 Ocean Suites and 7 secluded Treehouse Hideaways. The former are overlooking the Indian Ocean, whilst the Treehouse Hideaways are nestled within the property’s vibrant mangrove forest on the river, offering a true retreat into nature. The Indigo Dreams Suite is designed for ultimate indulgence, featuring a private jacuzzi, a dedicated alfresco massage room for two, and a spa-inspired bathroom. On the private terrace, a bespoke hanging sofa invites guests to unwind in style and enjoy uninterrupted ocean views. Aptly named, The Artist’s Suite is – much like the rest of the property – a canvas for some of the island’s notable and emerging artistic talents. Adding to the hedonistic flair of the Suite are an indoor-outdoor bar, private meditation dome, and tropical outdoor shower. Sunset Restaurant-Lounge: A Culinary & Social Haven At the heart of Oshom lies its 65-seat cliffside restaurant-lounge; this communal space is one where strangers become friends and memories are created as the sun melts into the horizon. A weekly rotating menu celebrates a bounty of seasonal ingredients and the day's ocean catch. Each dish embodies wholesome nutrition and perfect balance, complemented by botanical cocktails and a selection of fine wines. A Gateway to Nuanu Oshom offers a dynamic calendar of curated experiences and scintillating events that redefine traditional hospitality. Engaging supper clubs, poolside lectures, and sunset DJ sessions set the stage for meaningful encounters, while wellness rituals—including sound healing, breathwork, and the occasional cacao ceremony—offer moments of deep restoration and balance. The Library is a 24-hour nook designed for cozy reading, peaceful conversations, a glass of wine, and co-working (if needed!). Located within Nuanu, Oshom is part of a visionary 44-hectare creative city dedicated to art, culture, and conscious living. Guests have access to a world of transformative experiences, from the relaxing Lumeira Wellness Complex to Luna Beach Club, and Bali's first multimedia park, Aurora. Nuanu's commitment to nature is unlike any other development projects in Bali where 70% of its land is dedicated as green space, and by the city operates with electric-powered vehicles. Social impact is also a commitment where 5% of each projects' revenue goes to Nuanu Social Fund, which last year alone, Nuanu has donated Rp788 million to its surrounding local community through initiatives, projects, and monetary support. Just beyond Nuanu, Oshom’s prime location allows for effortless exploration of Bali’s cultural and natural wonders, from the sacred Tanah Lot temple (10 minutes) to the vibrant dining and shopping scenes of Pererenan and Canggu (15-20 minutes), and Ubud (50 minutes). Opening Offer Oshom Bali is now welcoming reservations for its full range of accommodations, dining experiences, and immersive programming. To celebrate the grand opening, guests can enjoy an exclusive package, designed to showcase the essence of Oshom: Daily a la carte breakfast Daily afternoon tea service from 4-5 PM at the oceanfront restaurant A signature sunset cocktail per guest, perfectly timed to toast the day’s end against the backdrop of Bali’s unrivaled sunsets Daily wellness and cultural experiences at Oshom A guided Nuanu Creative City Tour revealing the architectural and artistic highlights of this visionary development Unlimited access to the iconic Luna Beach Club throughout the stay
