Starting from mid-June 2025, the airline will increase its current four-weekly flights to five-weekly, progressing to six-weekly by the end of October, and eventually offering daily flights by January 12, 2026. Discover the ultimate shopping experience in Istanbul

İstanbul, a city where East meets West, is not only a cultural hub but also one of the world’s premier shopping destinations. Renowned for its rich heritage and vibrant modernity, the city offers a unique retail landscape that reflects its cosmopolitan spirit. From bustling bazaars steeped in history to sleek malls housing global brands, and from charming antique shops to luxury boutiques, İstanbul provides a shopping experience like no other. Visitors can immerse themselves in the city’s unparalleled blend of tradition and innovation while indulging in its distinctive shopping culture. Traditional Shopping in Historical Bazaars  Among the most authentic city experiences that İstanbul offers is discovering its historical bazaars. The most popular of them, the Grand and the Spice Bazaars, seamlessly blend unforgettable sights with sounds and colours you cannot see elsewhere. Resembling a giant labyrinth, Grand Bazaar is one of the world’s oldest and largest shopping centres. Wondering the bazaar’s streets, you’ll appreciate the strong artisan tradition, find high-quality goods, including Anatolian carpets, leather products, handmade lamps, and silk garments, and even sip Turkish tea from tulip-shaped glasses while talking to shopkeepers. Then, you can explore decades-old Turkish traditional restaurants, named “esnaf lokantası”, in the back alleys of the bazaar to savour authentic flavours. On the other hand, Spice Bazaar offers visual feasts and unique smells with colourful products on the stalls, including spices and Turkish delights. Insider’s tip: At Grand Bazaar, you can find many timeless pieces produced by skilled craftsmen. The bazaar has a centuries-old gold smithery tradition, so we suggest you purchase custom-made jewellery as an excellent souvenir from your trip. All-Day Shopping in İstanbul’s Malls  For a more modern shopping experience, you should head to İstanbul’s stylish malls. The city’s malls are equipped with air conditioning, parking spaces and disabled facilities and are open from 10 am to 10 pm, allowing visitors to enjoy a comfortable shopping experience anytime. While the malls offer countless products, including luxury brands, they also provide dining options, cafes, and cinemas, making them perfect for spending an entire day with family or friends. Additionally, entertainment opportunities, including playgrounds and theme parks, enhance kids' enjoyment while providing families with a more comfortable and stress-free shopping experience. Insider’s tip: Since weekends can be crowded, consider visiting malls on weekdays for a more relaxed experience. Purchase, Dine and Unwind: Shopping Streets  İstanbul is also home to lively shopping streets offering diverse experiences with many shops, from small boutiques to high-end brand stores. While the fashionable Nişantaşı is a centre of local designers, its main shopping street, Abdi İpekçi, is lined with international luxury brands and boutiques as well as upscale restaurants, cafes and art galleries. On the Anatolian side, Bağdat Street is one of the finest shopping boulevards. The street is especially famous for local and international luxury brands and exclusive design shops. İstiklal Street, extending from Taksim Square to Tunnel in Beyoğlu, is another shopping address with numerous stores selling unique finds, from clothes to jewellery. It offers a more easy-going atmosphere and relaxed shopping experience as you wander through famous neoclassical arcades leading to fantastic shops and bookstores. Insider’s tip: Abdi İpekçi, Bağdat, and İstiklal Streets are all home to a variety of outstanding restaurants and new generation cafés. Don’t forget to take a pleasurable lunch break in these venues while shopping. Vintage Shopping Locales  İstanbul is also a paradise for antique and second-hand goods. If you are a collector or conscious traveller who values sustainable shopping experiences, head to Çukurcuma, between Galatasaray and Cihangir neighbourhoods. Stores full of hidden treasures, from authentic carpets to stylish furniture from the 20th century, are all along the streets here. Another place where the best antique dealers and second-hand stores are located is Balat. This multicultural district on the Golden Horn coast has been a location for antique selling since the Ottoman period. But the auction culture here is one of the most exciting experiences in the city today. Feriköy, a neighbourhood in Şişli, is ideal for authentic collectables. When you enter Feriköy Antique Market, you’ll be surrounded by over 200 vendors selling fascinating items, such as coin collections, old jewellery and vintage clothes. Insider’s tip: Each neighbourhood hosts its vibrant market on a designated day of the week. So, don’t miss the chance to immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of these local markets, antique stores and flea markets.

Discover the relaxing escapes to İstanbul’s Princes’ Islands

PERSONEL ÇEKİMLERİ   The Princes’ Islands, one of the hidden gems of İstanbul, offer the most delightful activities in October. While autumn starts showing its brown colours in the vibrant metropolis, the warm and sunny weather makes this month the perfect time to explore the serene archipelago off the Asian side. Whether looking for a peaceful retreat or a day of exploration, İstanbul’s islands provide an idyllic escape, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. Inside but out in İstanbul  The Princes’ Islands take their name from the Eastern Roman period when dynasty members like princes were sent into exile here. Today, the island group is a perfect getaway with lush landscapes and architectural marvels, such as enchanting mansions and stunning churches, providing an insight into a multicultural society in the city. Further, only the municipality’s electric vehicles on traffic-free streets enhance their appeal to locals and tourists. The archipelago includes nine beautiful islands; however, Büyükada, Heybeliada, Burgazada and Kınalıada are the most visited ones. A leisurely ferry ride from both sides of the city, soaking in the stunning views of the Bosphorus, starts your journey to the islands. Then, exploring these hidden paradises in the middle of the Marmara Sea is simple: Stroll through the charming streets or rent a bike. Admire the picturesque houses, architectural marvels, stunning greenery, and sea views. Savour the local delicacies from Turkish cuisine, including seasonal fresh fish and mezes (appetisers), with rakı or regional wines at the restaurants on the coasts. Büyükada: The biggest island in the Archipelago Büyükada, meaning “large island” in Turkish, is the largest of the Princes’ Islands. Although it’s very close to İstanbul, Büyükada feels worlds apart in terms of atmosphere. The island’s iconic Clock Tower greets you when you get off the ferry. Rent a bike at once and hit the streets filled with the scent of bougainvillaeas and enchanting mansions. You should visit the Aya Yorgi Church on Yücetepe, the highest hill of Büyükada, which requires climbing a steep slope to witness the best sunset. Other attractions on the island include the Museum of the Princes’ Island, the residence of Turkish author Reşat Nuri Güntekin, and Adakule, which serves as the island’s fire tower. Furthermore, following the recent restorations, many historic buildings have started serving as cultural and artistic venues in Büyükada, hosting various delightful events. Heybeliada: The Greenest Island The second largest and the greenest island in İstanbul, Heybeliada is named after its appearance resembling a saddlebag. The island is one of the best examples of a diverse community living in peace and harmony in İstanbul. As such, Aya Yorgi Cliff Monastery, Bet Yaakov Synagogue, and Aya Nikola Church are the must-see structures on the island. For Istanbulites, Heybeliada has long been a place of escape, with a chance to sit under the shade of giant trees, gather with friends at a historic meyhane (local tavern), savour rare fish appetisers with age-old recipes, and admire stunning houses while enjoying ice cream. In addition to a sense of nostalgia and tranquillity, Heybeliada’s natural beauty is of great appeal. The best place to examine the island’s nature is, hands down, Değirmenburnu Nature Park. Burgazada: Serene Oasis of Archipelago Burgazada, the third largest of Prince’s Islands, is perhaps the most peaceful in the archipelago. The island welcomes visitors with impressive mansions, monasteries and scenic beauty. Unlike other islands, Burgazada has just one hill. Bayrak Tepe and the ruins of Hristos Monastery on this hill should be your first stop on the island. Then, you can visit the house of Sait Faik Abasıyanık, one of the essential figures in Turkish literature, which has been transformed into a museum. Other important structures on the island are the Aya Yani Church and the Aya Yorgi Garibi Monastery. Kınalıada: Closest, Reddish Island As the closest island to İstanbul, Kınalıada is the ideal quick getaway for an easy and quiet vacation. The island takes its name, referring to henna in Turkish, from its reddish soil. You can easily explore the island, visiting must-see attractions like Surp Krikor Lusavoric Church, as it only takes half an hour, even from the furthest point. However, the island’s charm lies in its small details—like the quaint bookstores, cosy cafes, and the picturesque seaside promenade perfect for a sunset walk. Don’t miss the chance to visit the local pastry shop for unique island delicacies or take a stroll to discover tiny artisan shops selling handcrafted memorabilia.
