IHCL secures sound mark for Taj brand

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India's largest hospitality firm, has successfully registered a sound mark for the Taj sonic sound, marking a pioneering step in brand protection within the Indian hospitality sector. This registration legally safeguards the brand's unique sonic identity, recognising sound as a vital brand asset. Rajendra Misra, Executive Vice President and General Counsel at IHCL, commented, "Being recognised as the world’s strongest hotel brand carries with it the responsibility to lead all facets including how brand equity is protected. This sound mark registration reinforces our position as a pioneer in brand protection, reflecting a forward-looking approach to intellectual property that aligns with the evolving ways in which guests engage with and connect with our brands." In today's experience-driven market, sonic branding is crucial for creating emotional connections and enhancing consumer recall beyond visual elements. As hospitality brands delve into multi-sensory experiences, sound has become a key element in building trust and familiarity. Previously, Taj secured trademark protection for the three-dimensional shape of the Taj Mahal Hotel in Bombay, highlighting its commitment to safeguarding its heritage through innovative intellectual property strategies. Taj Exotica launches BESS project with Tata Power

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has partnered with Tata Power to inaugurate a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Goa. This marks a significant milestone as the first such installation in India's hospitality sector, aiming to enhance sustainable energy management. The BESS, with a storage capacity of 2 MW, is a crucial step in IHCL's decarbonisation efforts under its Paathya initiative and Tata Group's Aalingana vision. Tata Power executed the installation following comprehensive feasibility studies, investing approximately $420,000 (₹3.50 crore). The system is projected to save $180,000 (₹1.50 crore) annually by reducing reliance on diesel power. Sheetal Singh, Area Director – South Goa & General Manager, Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Goa, stated, “Sustainability is at the core of our ethos at Taj Exotica, Goa. The BESS project is an exemplary step in modernising the way hospitality manages energy.” The initiative is expected to cut diesel consumption by 200,000 litres annually, significantly lowering carbon emissions and operational costs. It also improves power quality and reduces generator runtime. The system integrates grid, diesel, and solar power sources with advanced interlocking and protection mechanisms, ensuring seamless operation without affecting guest comfort. Ranjit Phillipose, Senior Vice President – Operations, IHCL Goa, remarked, “The BESS project at Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Goa is not just an engineering achievement—it is a defining moment in our sustainability journey.” This pioneering project sets a new standard for responsible luxury in the hospitality industry, reflecting IHCL's commitment to a sustainable future. ```

IHCL signs new Taj hotel in Mohali

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India's largest hospitality firm, has announced the signing of a new Taj hotel in Mohali, Punjab. This greenfield project aims to capitalise on Mohali's growth as a significant IT and commercial centre, as well as its rising popularity for weddings and social events. The upcoming 225-key Taj Mohali will offer guests uninterrupted views of the surrounding greenery. It will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, and a speciality restaurant, catering to diverse culinary preferences. Leisure and wellness amenities will include a swimming pool, gym, health club, and the signature J Wellness Circle. The hotel will also boast over 26,000 square feet of banqueting space, making it the largest event venue in the region, ideal for weddings, corporate functions, and social gatherings. Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President of Real Estate & Development at IHCL, highlighted Mohali's potential, stating, “Mohali’s emergence as a thriving IT and commercial centre is a key growth market in Punjab. This, coupled with the state’s increasing appeal as a preferred destination for weddings and social events, aligns with our strategy to expand in such high-potential markets.” With this addition, IHCL will have 14 hotels in Punjab, including seven under development. Mohali, known for its modern infrastructure, hosts numerous IT companies, educational institutions, and sports facilities, further enhancing its appeal as a strategic location for IHCL's expansion. ```

Taj Hotels has launched 'Ninaad', a new initiative celebrating India's rich cultural heritage, at the Rambagh Palace in Jaipur. This three-day event, which began with a sarod recital by Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash, aims to reimagine India's traditions through modern storytelling. The inaugural evening featured a Royal Feast Under the Stars, showcasing Rajasthan's culinary delights prepared by the Master Chefs of Rambagh Palace. Celebrated poet Shailesh Lodha added a touch of reflection with his evocative poetry, whilst renowned designer Anamika Khanna presented an exclusive couture showcase. The evening concluded with a seven-course dinner accompanied by The Bombay Choir. 'Ninaad' is part of Taj's ongoing commitment to preserving India's cultural heritage. With a portfolio of palaces in cities like Udaipur, Jaipur, and Mumbai, Taj continues to highlight the nation's history. IHCL unveils Taj hotel and residences in Noida

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India's largest hospitality company, has announced the signing of a new Taj hotel and branded residences in Noida. This greenfield development, under a management contract, will be located along the Noida — Greater Noida Expressway and will feature 150 guest rooms and 74 luxury residences. Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President of Real Estate & Development at IHCL, highlighted the rapid transformation of Noida and Greater Noida, driven by major infrastructure projects and the upcoming airport. "This signing is in line with IHCL’s vision of strengthening our presence in key markets across India," she stated. The project aims to cater to discerning clientele with a world-class hotel and exclusive homes managed by a trusted brand. The hotel will include an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, and two speciality restaurants. It will also offer extensive facilities for social and corporate gatherings, including a ballroom of over 8,000 square feet, pre-function areas, and versatile meeting rooms. Recreational amenities will feature a swimming pool, gym, health club, and Taj’s signature J Wellness Circle. The Taj branded residences will offer expansive homes of 7,500 square feet each, with access to a Residents’ Club featuring terraced gardens, a lounge, and an infinity swimming pool. Gulshan Nagpal, Chairman of Gulshan Group, expressed delight in partnering with IHCL to bring the Taj brand to Noida, setting new benchmarks in luxury hospitality and residences. Yukti Nagpal, Director of Gulshan Group, added that the project reimagines luxury by blending hospitality with real estate. With this addition, IHCL will have five hotels in Noida and Greater Noida, including one under development, further solidifying its presence in the region. ```

Boeing and Tajikistan’s Somon Air commit to major 14-aircraft order

Boeing and Tajikistani carrier Somon Air announced on Thursday, 6th November, the latter’s commitment to place its largest-ever order, selecting up to 14 fuel-efficient 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX airplanes. The agreement was signed during the C5+1 Summit as the U.S. marks the tenth anniversary of the diplomatic platform.  When finalised and posted to Boeing's Orders & Deliveries website, the order will support more than 11,000 jobs across the US. Somon Air currently operates six Next-Generation 737 airplanes from Tajikistan to 25 destinations across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.  Through this latest agreement, the airline will place its first-ever widebody order for up to four 787-9 jets to enable international network expansion and up to 10 737-8 single-aisle jets, to modernise its all-737 fleet. Somon Air chief executive Abdulkosim Vallev said: "We are pleased to announce our commitment to expand our fleet with Boeing's state-of-the-art 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX airplanes. This significant investment not only marks our first widebody order but also reinforces our dedication to providing exceptional service and comfort to our passengers. With flexibility built into this commitment, Somon Air can adjust its fleet further based on market demand." Expanding horizons Somon Air will launch new intercontinental routes from Dushanbe, Tajikistan with the 787-9, offering superior comfort to its passengers.  The 737‑8 will form the foundation of the carrier's short and medium‑haul network.  Together, these airplanes deliver a 20 to 25  percent fuel-use improvement compared to the airplanes they replace, enabling lower per-seat and maintenance costs. According to Boeing’s vice-president of sales and marketing for Eurasia and India Paul Righi: "Somon Air's continued choice of Boeing as its strategic partner underscores their preference for Boeing jets to grow their route network. The versatility of the 787-9 and 737-8, combined with their outstanding performance, range, and operating economics, provide Somon Air with the essential tools needed to scale its operations effectively." The 787 Dreamliner family has opened more than 520 new nonstop routes never previously served and carried more than 1 billion passengers worldwide since its commercial introduction in 2011.
