Destinations in Southern Europe, including Greece, Spain, and Italy, are experiencing a notable increase in international travel demand for the summer of 2026. According to The Data Appeal Company, these regions are capturing 11.71% of global travel intent from June to August, marking a 2.47 percentage point rise compared to the previous year. This surge is attributed to strong air connectivity and the enduring appeal of Mediterranean holidays.

North America is also witnessing robust demand, accounting for 8.36% of global travel intent, a 1.01 percentage point increase year-on-year. The region's performance is bolstered by FIFA host-city demand in major US cities and strong travel interest in Canadian destinations like Vancouver and Calgary.

Despite Eastern Asia maintaining the largest share of international travel demand at 14.41%, the region faces a decline of 1.67 percentage points due to geopolitical tensions. Conversely, South-Eastern Asia shows resilience, with Bali, Manila, and Jakarta leading the region's growth.

Latin America and Africa are benefiting from shifting global demand, with Latin America gaining 0.72 percentage points in travel intent. Peru, Brazil, and Mexico are at the forefront of this growth, alongside Caribbean destinations like Puerto Rico and Aruba.

Northern Europe is capitalising on the "coolcations" trend, attracting travellers seeking cultural and nature-based experiences. The region captures 5.96% of global travel demand, with cities like London and Edinburgh seeing increased interest.

These trends highlight a dynamic shift in global travel patterns, with Southern Europe and North America leading the way in summer 2026
