Meliá Hotels expands Bangkok presence with two new hotels

Meliá Hotels International is expanding its Bangkok portfolio with two new hotels in Sukhumvit. The Spanish hotel group is partnering with Asset World Corp (AWC) to introduce the ME by Meliá brand to Asia for the first time.

The two properties will add 457 rooms to Meliá's portfolio by the end of 2027. They are The Kasem House Bangkok Hotel and The Hotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 26.

The Kasem House Bangkok Hotel will become Asia's first ME by Meliá property. Located on Sukhumvit Soi 24, the hotel will feature 280 rooms, a rooftop infinity pool and extensive event facilities. The conversion will introduce the brand's luxury lifestyle concept, inspired by Bangkok's creative energy.

Meanwhile, The Hotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 26 will join the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand. It will offer 177 rooms and cater to both business and leisure travellers.

Ignacio Martin, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Meliá Hotels International, said: "Bangkok is one of Asia’s most dynamic and fastest-growing cities. It has an incredible energy, and we see an opportunity to introduce two distinct hospitality experiences that reflect different facets about the city."

The expansion supports Meliá's wider growth strategy in Thailand. The group aims to exceed 3,000 rooms in the country by 2036.

Across Asia Pacific, Meliá currently operates 46 hotels, with another 11 in development. The latest agreements strengthen its presence in one of the region's key hospitality markets.
