Saudia is raising the bar for passenger comfort with the unveiling of its new Premium Economy cabin, promising travellers more legroom, larger entertainment screens and enhanced privacy when the product makes its debut aboard newly delivered Boeing 787 aircraft in 2027. Unveiled at World Travel Market (WTM) London 2026, the new cabin forms part of the airline's wider New Saudia Experience initiative, aimed at transforming the passenger journey through upgraded aircraft interiors, enhanced onboard services and a more personalised travel experience.
More Space, More Comfort, More Choice
Designed to bridge the gap between Economy and Business Class, Saudia's Premium Economy cabin will offer a seat pitch of up to 43 inches, providing passengers with significantly more personal space. The seats will feature 15.5-inch entertainment screens, extendable calf rests, additional personal storage and enhanced privacy, catering to travellers seeking greater comfort without opting for Business Class. The introduction reflects the growing importance of differentiated cabin offerings as airlines compete to attract passengers seeking a balance between affordability and premium travel experiences.
Arved von zur Muehlen, Chief Commercial Officer at Saudia, said: "The introduction of Premium Economy marks another step in enhancing the choices and comfort available to our guests. As part of the 'New Saudia Experience', we continue to invest in our onboard products and services to deliver a more comfortable and seamless journey." He added that WTM London offered an opportunity to showcase these developments to international partners and highlight the airline's progress in enhancing its guest experience.
Premium Economy to Expand Across Saudia's Fleet
The new Premium Economy cabin is expected to enter service in 2027, initially aboard newly delivered Boeing 787 aircraft. Saudia also plans to progressively introduce the product across selected aircraft in its existing Airbus A330, Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 fleets through a phased retrofit programme. While the airline has yet to announce the first routes to feature Premium Economy or reveal ticket pricing, the move represents another step in its broader strategy to modernise its fleet and diversify its onboard offerings.
A321XLR Business Class Also Takes Centre Stage
Alongside the Premium Economy announcement, Saudia showcased its latest Business Class product aboard the Airbus A321XLR, which entered its fleet earlier in 2026. The airline says it is the first carrier in the Middle East and Africa to operate the aircraft type. The A321XLR features 24 Business Class suites equipped with fully flat beds and direct aisle access, complemented by 120 Economy Class seats.
Saudia also presented its latest onboard hospitality offerings, including amenity kits, dining service ware and other passenger amenities across its travel classes. Together, the cabin upgrades underline Saudia's continued investment in passenger experience as the airline strengthens its international proposition and supports Saudi Arabia's wider ambitions to expand tourism and global connectivity.
