China Airlines to operate direct flights from Taipei, Taiwan to Prague twice weekly
Beautiful natural scenery, tropical rainforest, and green tea aroma. Prague is the sixth European city to which China Airlines operates direct flights from Taipei. With a direct connection to the Taiwanese capital, Taipei, Prague now stands alongside Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London, Rome, and Vienna. The connection is available twice a week and the carrier uses Airbus A350-900 aircraft to operate the Taipei – Prague route. Prague Airport has been striving for a long-haul route to East Asia for several years. Its Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jiří Pos, therefore considers its launch to be a tremendous success, saying: “With this new connection, we will also boost inbound tourism.” Before the pandemic, i.e., in 2019, over 190 thousand passengers from Taiwan visited the Czech Republic. Last year, there were only 13,791 Taiwanese visitors, which meant a drop of almost 93 percent. A direct flight between Prague and Taipei could change this. “In addition, the connection will offer passengers from Prague the possibility of convenient transfers to a number of China Airlines destinations in Asia and the Pacific.” According to China Airlines President, Kao Shing-Hwang, China Airlines is the only carrier to offer non-stop flights between Taiwan and the Czech Republic. The new Prague route will encourage bilateral business, trade and tourism. Kao also expects strong interest from the transit market for Japan, Korea and Vietnam, allowing more Asian travelers to pass through Taiwan on their way to and from the Czech Republic and thus enhancing Taiwan’s status as a regional transit hub. "Direct air connections, their frequency and quality are of vital importance for tourism. We believe that thanks to the Prague - Taipei flights, the Czech Republic will once again be discovered more by tourists not only from Taiwan, but from all over Asia, who represent a very interesting tourism segment. If we take the average spending of tourists from China, Japan and South Korea in our country, we can see a gradual return of these foreign guests. While in 2019 they spent a total of CZK 4,860 per person per day in the Czech Republic, a year later it was CZK 3,888 and in 2021 it was even only CZK 2,170. Last year, the situation began to improve - the average spending of these Asian travellers in our country was CZK 4,321 per person per day," says Jan Herget, director CzechTourism, adding: "The good news is that, as well as spending, the number of travellers from Asia is growing. The data on hotel accommodation in the Czech Republic from May this year shows that the number of Taiwanese tourists increased by 2,753 percent year-on-year, from 393 to 11,213. Taiwan is not only a country of modern technology, but also offers many tourist attractions. In Taipei, the capital of three million inhabitants, there is the Palace Museum, which preserves rare collections of artefacts from the Forbidden City. Next year, the impressive local skyscraper, which is the second tallest building in the world and bears the number 101 in its name after the number of floors, will celebrate its twentieth anniversary. The island abounds in wild tropical nature with gorges, mountains, lakes, and thermal springs. Almost a tenth of the area of Taiwan is formed by national parks. In terms of routes to Asia and the Middle East, Prague Airport currently offers connections to Amman, Dubai, Doha, Kuwait, Muscat, Riyadh, and Seoul.
Eva Air launches Taipei-Clark route
EVA Air, Taiwan’s leading independent airline, launched its Taipei-Clark maiden flight on March 30. This latest addition to its convenient Philippines schedule joins the popular Manila and Cebu services. EVA Air celebrated its newest destination with an inaugural flight ceremony at Taoyuan International Airport hosted by the airline’s President Clay Sun. Distinguished guests, including Taoyuan International Airport Corporation Chairman Wei-Fuu Yang, Aviation Police Bureau Chief Wen-Liang Chiou, Border Affairs Corps. Deputy Chief Commander Szu-Hsing Chen, Customs Administration Director Kuo-Hsin Fang, and Deputy Resident Manila Economic and Cultural Office Representative Alice Q. Visperas cut the ribbon, in a simple, festive ceremony. "EVA Air has been deeply committed to the Philippines market from the day we launched Manila flights in 1992,” said EVA President Clay Sun. “After more than 30 years of comfortable, convenient services, we are proud to offer 35 flights every week to three important Philippines destinations, Manila, Cebu and now Clark.” EVA Air offers three flights a day from Taipei to Manila, one a day to Cebu and, now, one daily to Clark. "The Taipei-Clark route launch makes travel between Taiwan and the Philippines convenient for passengers travelling between Taiwan and the Philippines and all of those transiting through Taipei from gateways around the world.” President Sun added..."Starting with Vienna in 1991, we have steadily built our networks in North America and Europe and passengers from both continents are embracing the convenience of our schedules and flight frequencies. On today’s maiden flight, more than 80% of our passengers flew from North America and Europe to Taoyuan International Airport to connect on to Clark aboard EVA. This demonstrates the convenience of our service and the importance of Taoyuan International Airport as a connection hub in Asia." Adding to the Clark launch festivities, an Evergreen Symphony Orchestra quartet performed a programme that was both energetic and relaxing, presenting compositions such as "Spanish Gypsy Dance" and "Sway." Especially for the maiden flight, EVA’s chefs created popular and celebratory Filipino dishes. Business Class passengers enjoyed a deliciously refreshing Filipino spring roll salad followed by a choice of Filipino-style main course options, "Mechado Beef Served with Assorted Vegetables and Garlic Rice" or the Philippines’ national dish "Adobo Chicken Served with Assorted Vegetables and Potatoes." Passengers in all cabins had the opportunity to sample Din Tai Fung's pineapple cake, longan cake and LOT100 mango gummies. EVA also offered coconut water from the Philippines, giving Clark passengers a taste of another Filipino favourite. EVA Air is flying the Taipei-Clark route, using an Airbus A321-200 with a total of 184 seats, eight in Business Class and 176 in Economy. Flights are conveniently scheduled and make connections easy: Route Flight No. Frequency Departure Arrival Taipei-Clark BR233 Daily 09:00 11:00 Clark-Taipei BR234 Daily 12:00 14:00 Clark is northwest of Angeles City, Pampanga Province, the Philippines. It is a key economic and trade development zone for the country in addition to offering good local security and beautiful scenery. Strong economic development combined with the pleasant climate, beautiful beaches, water activities and more outdoor adventure opportunities near inviting resorts create an ideal environment for potential business and tourism development. Light aircraft flights, zip lining, cave exploration, island hopping, snorkelling, sea walking, surfing, multiple golf courses, equestrian centres and more make the area exceedingly attractive to those who love the outdoors.
Prague Airport gets a direct route to Taipei
Effective 18 July 2023, Prague Airport is getting a direct connection with the Taiwanese capital of Taipei. The direct route from Taoyuan International Airport to Václav Havel Airport Prague will be operated twice a week (with departures from Prague on Wednesdays and Sundays). China Airlines has decided to use Airbus A350-900s to service its flights between Taipei and Prague. Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors, considers the new long-haul route to Southeast Asia to be a great success: “We have been striving for a direct route to Taiwan for several years. I am therefore glad that our negotiations have yielded results and we can offer this direct service to Czech travellers. Moreover, this route will provide passengers from Prague with the possibility of convenient transfers to a number of China Airlines destinations in Asia and the Pacific. The non-stop air connection with Prague is also great news for the residents of Taiwan. In 2019, i.e., before the Covid-19 pandemic, almost a quarter of a million of them visited the Czech Republic.” Jan Herget, Director of CzechTourism, in connection with the new route, adds that last year there were approximately 7.4 million incoming tourists to the Czech Republic. “It is almost as many as ten years ago. However, we are still not at the pre-Covid numbers. Although almost all the guests from neighbouring countries have already returned, the arrival of the more remote travellers can be expected this year, due to the air connection. Long-haul routes are thus the priority of CzechTourism for this year. If we were to count only tourists from Russia, China, South Korea, and Japan from the TOP 10 markets, who spent on an average nearly 3,800 crowns per person per night in our country in 2019, while domestic tourists spent around 700 crowns, last year there were almost two million guests from distant markets missing. We expect to see a change precisely due to an increased number of direct long-haul air connections. It’s great that, after the direct Prague-Seoul route that was resumed in March, i.e., the air connection with South Korea, we can look forward to direct flights to Taiwan this July.” According to Herget, a total of 191,336 tourists from Taiwan came to the Czech Republic in 2019, compared to only 13,791 last year, which meant a drop of almost 93%. A direct flight between Prague and Taipei could change that. Prague will become the sixth European city to which China Airlines operates direct flights from Taipei. It will rank alongside Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London, Rome and Vienna. China Airlines will newly offer almost 30 direct flights between Europe and Taiwan each week. Taiwan is not only a country of modern technology, but it also offers many tourist attractions. In the capital of Taipei, inhabited by three million people, there is the National Palace Museum, which houses rare collections from the Forbidden City. Next year, the impressive building located in the capital, which is the second tallest in the world and bears the number 101 in its name according to the number of floors, will celebrate its twentieth anniversary. The island abounds in wild tropical nature with gorges, mountains, lakes, and thermal springs. Almost a tenth of the area of Taiwan is covered by national parks. Prague Airport currently features connections to Amman, Dubai, Doha, Muscat, and Salalah on the list of long-haul routes to Asia, with a direct route to Seoul scheduled to be resumed at the end of March.
