Trip.com Group, a leading global travel service provider, has entered into a one-year strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tourism Tasmania. Announced at the Envision Conference in Shanghai on 28 May, this agreement marks the first official global MoU between the two organisations. It aims to accelerate the growth of Tasmanian tourism by promoting the island's nature-based travel experiences to international travellers seeking premium destinations.

The collaboration will focus on enhancing the quality and visibility of Tasmanian tourism offerings on Trip.com's platform. This includes ensuring accurate presentation of accommodation, tours, attractions, and signature experiences. Additionally, the partnership will deliver specialised training and familiarisation programmes to Trip.com staff to reinforce service quality.

Utilising platform data and user insights, the partnership will optimise performance and co-create impactful global marketing campaigns targeting Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and Australia. Edison Chen, Vice President of Trip.com Group, stated, "This MoU represents a milestone in our efforts to provide global travellers with access to high-quality authentic experiences."

Sarah Kingston Clark, CEO of Tourism Tasmania, expressed enthusiasm for the strengthened partnership, highlighting its role in connecting Chinese consumers with Tasmania's world-class tourism experiences. The MoU builds on previous recovery initiatives launched during the post-pandemic period, targeting the Chinese mainland market in 2022 and 2023, and expanding to Hong Kong and Singapore from 2024 to 2025.

Looking forward, Trip.com Group plans to leverage its technology and innovation to make travel more seamless and accessible, showcasing Tasmania's natural beauty and cultural depth to a global audience
