The Lake Como EDITION to debut with 148 keys by March 2026 in Italy
[L-R The Lobby at The Lake Como EDITION, The Hotel Façade at The Lake Como EDITION, The Floating pool at The Lake Como EDITION]EDITION, part of Marriott Bonvoy's portfolio, Omnam Investment Group (“Omnam”), and private investment firm Bain Capital boldly reimagine this storied locale with the opening of The Lake Como EDITION - marking a radical departure from traditional Lake Como hospitality. The property introduces elegant tastemakers and global travelers to a new vision of lakeside luxury that pairs culinary excellence with a groundbreaking wellness spa offering cutting-edge longevity and rejuvenation treatments. The striking interior spaces, brought to life through a collaboration between EDITION, design firm Neri&Hu, and architects De.Tales reflect this bold new chapter in Lake Como's legendary history. Lake Como is the 21st hotel location in the brand’s collection, which spans the world from Tokyo to London, New York, and Riviera Maya. EDITION arrives on the sought-after shores of Lake Como, with its signature talent for turning a hotel into a must-visit destination. “This opening marks a new era in the EDITION story, where the timeless glamour of Lake Como converges with a new generation of luxury,” says George Fleck, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader, EDITION. “Renowned for its elegance and cultural prestige, this iconic destination provides the perfect canvas for our most captivating chapter yet, a defining moment that reflects EDITION’s continued evolution on the global stage. "Our goal has always been to create a sophisticated luxury experience that seamlessly blends with Lake Como’s natural beauty while remaining welcoming to all. We are incredibly proud to see this vision come to life and to add this remarkable asset to our growing portfolio.” Location: A Contemporary Oasis on Lake Como Along Lake Como's picture-perfect shoreline of majestic villas and Italian gardens, EDITION has revitalized a hotel first built in 1830 with a refined design. Situated on Lake Como's western coast in the town of Cadenabbia, the hotel faces the stunning promontory of Bellagio across sparkling waters, where Mediterranean flora meets snow-capped peaks. A formidable addition to the storied glitz of Lake Como, EDITION injects stylish new relevance to the classic Italian concept of villeggiatura — the tradition of extended leisurely stays in the countryside or by the water that has long been at the heart of Lake Como travel, drawing aristocrats, intellectuals, and celebrities to its shores for fresh air and a dose of natural splendor. A scenic journey from Milan’s world-renowned fashion and design scene, The Lake Como EDITION is poised to become the region's most compelling new gathering place for international tastemakers, local cultural innovators, and creative minds. While honoring Lake Como's heritage as a sought-after retreat, EDITION reimagines this legacy for today's modern traveler - offering spaces designed for both intimate connections and vibrant socializing, from sunrise wellness sessions to late-night entertainment. The property serves as both a serene escape and a dynamic destination where Milan's innovative energy meets Lake Como's timeless allure. Design: A Modern Vision of Italian Luxury The Lake Como EDITION returns a heritage hotel structure to its former glory with EDITION identity, galvanized by a progressive vision. The 19th-century palazzo, which first opened its doors as The London, retains its original heritage exterior palate of cream, butter, and clay, and maintains the original high vaulting of its interior lobby, with classical arches connecting the social spaces to create a sophisticated design language throughout. EDITION Creative Directors Kirstin Bailey and Paul Haslhofer, in partnership with Neri&Hu, have conjured a stately interpretation of contemporary design with marble-faced archways, terrazzo floors, and prodigious greenery blending the interiors with spectacular natural surroundings. The Italian grandeur is invoked from the dramatic cantilevered teak wood entrance, surrounded by a lush vertical garden cascading with wisteria, clematis, and climbing roses. Inside, a white Palomba stone terrazzo floor and Palomba stone borders surround a sculptural marble staircase, an ode to famed Italian architect and designer Carlo Scarpa, whose sensual approach to materials has inspired the public spaces. A reflection pool and fountain mark the bank of polished brass elevators. From the entrance, generous communal spaces extend in both directions, beginning with the signature restaurant, by three-Michelin-star and green-star chef Mauro Colagreco, with its large jardin d'hiver terrace facing the lake. A rich rose-colored Dolomite plaster covers the walls, where tapestries and antique mirrors hang beside Modern-era artworks. In the elevated ground floor's restaurant and bars, floor-to-ceiling glass walls overlook the lake. A walnut-paneled private meeting room and lounge offers the same Bellagio vista, while the upstairs terrace restaurant provides an immense patio with prime views, featuring all-day dining under pergola shade surrounded by Mediterranean herbs and citrus trees. Opposite the meeting room, the palatial Lobby Bar showcases a five-meter-high ceiling inlaid with modern geometric coffers, anchored by a monumental bar in celadon green Sekoyamarble. Hand-painted landscapes by Italian artist Costanza Alvarez De Castro surround the room in the existing plaster molding frames, portraying views of Lake Como’s surroundings. A billiard table, a signature of all EDITION hotels, is complemented by a Steinway baby grand piano and a carved Palomba stone fireplace, emphasizing the timeless charm of the lounge. These thoughtfully designed social spaces embody EDITION's insight into the needs of today's global travelers — how they connect, collaborate, and recharge. The flowing layout encourages both chance encounters and private moments, creating a sophisticated atmosphere where locals can effortlessly mix with international visitors. Rooms: Sophisticated Serenity For a serene space from which to contemplate the splendor of Lake Como, the hotel offers 148 rooms, including twenty-five suites, and two crown-jewel penthouses with nine guestrooms in the Villa Gina. Custom sophisticated furnishings include a bespoke walnut bed and headboard, set atop a hand-tufted rug of pale blue to recall the lake below, with a bespoke white Calacatta marble coffee table and curved sofa by Neri & Hu. Every room includes an archway and baseboards adorned with Calacatta Turquoise marble, with bathrooms of Calacatta Gold Stone marble accented by fluted glass doors in polished brass frames. All lakeside rooms feature the original restored French balconies. Dining: A New Culinary Destination for Lake Como From the Lobby Bar with waterfront seating for coffee or an aperitivo to the signature restaurants and bars, The Lake Como EDITION introduces multiple distinctive dining experiences under the direction of the acclaimed Italian-heritage chef, Mauro Colagreco. For his first-ever venture in Italy, the three-Michelin-starred Chef of Mirazur in Menton, France, brings his nature-first philosophy to four unique culinary concepts. Each venue offers a different iteration of his vision to explore his Italian heritage through a contemporary interpretation of traditional flavors. The hotel’s signature restaurant, Cetino, offers an elevated interpretation of contemporary gastronomy, where culinary artistry reveals the pure essence of each ingredient. Embracing a spirit of freedom that invites guests to mix and match dishes, Cetino celebrates conviviality and brings the dining room to life through a captivating service experience. Guided by Chef Colagreco’s deep respect for natural textures and colors, the menu becomes a vibrant ode to the harmony between land and sea. Renzo, the all-day dining destination with a panoramic terrace overlooking the lake, embodies the warmth of Italian hospitality. Inspired by Chef Colagreco’s cherished family gatherings, the menu reinterprets time-honored recipes through a modern lens, crafted for lively dining and the joy of sharing. By the pool, a fresh and inviting selection of seafood-driven dishes captures the essence of Mediterranean leisure, offering a relaxed experience for both local visitors and hotel guests. At the heart of the property, the Lobby Bar, a hallmark of the EDITION brand, sets a sophisticated yet welcoming tone within its grand hall setting. Here, Riviera-inspired canapés crafted from the finest ingredients showcase the most exquisite delicacies and the region's most distinctive flavors. Guests are invited to gather, unwind, and savor the moment. On the Lake: Pools, Promenades & a Private Dock The hotel is set on a waterside promenade, part of the breathtaking Lake Como Greenway walking route that connects Cadenabbia to other picturesque villages like Tremezzo and Lenno. A private dock welcomes guests arriving by boat, and EDITION’s own boat fleet offers scenic tours around the lake as well as transport to destinations all along the waterfront. Lake Como’s ferry service also stops at a dock just outside the hotel, conveying guests to several lakeshore towns. Immediately in front of the hotel is EDITION’s floating pool on the lake, dramatically surrounded by the expanse of Como’s waters, featuring a restaurant and lounge bar on its dock, along with cabanas and lounge chairs for passing warm days in full relaxation. Wellness: Pioneering New Frontiers Lake Como has long been a favorite destination for the therapeutic benefits of its clean mountain air and serenity-inducing scenery. EDITION now brings a new level of wellness experiences to Lake Como, launching the second The Longevity SPA in Italy. The facility offers groundbreaking biohacking approaches for living a longer, healthier life, fulfilling the philosophy of The Longevity Suite Group - the pioneering leader in the longevity and wellness culture industry - to which it belongs. WTTC head office to move to Italy, Spain or Switzerland?
The organisation that represents the global private sector in travel and tourism, WTTC (the World Travel and Tourism Council), which is a global authority on the economic and social impact of sector, confirms it is likely to move its head office outside of the UK for the first time in its history. The Board of WTTC has endosed a plan to ensure the organisation continues to play the leading role in global travel and tourism and advocate for long-term, sustainable growth in the sector. WTTC is considering whether to locate its headquarters in Italy, Spain or Switzerland. It has begun an evaluation assessment and is consulting with all of its staff currently based in London. WTTC’s own statistics show that, in a forecast for calendar year 2025, the sector is expected to be worth US$11.7 trillion, or 10.3% of global GDP and accounts for 371 million jobs, or 11% of total employment, worldwide. It also accounts for one in three new jobs created globally. Brexit the reason? The Chairman of WTTC, Manfredi Lefebvre, commented: “WTTC is a member-centric organisation and we owe it to members to explore all the options for our future structure. Brexit is one of the main factors in our decision to potentially move our headquarters beyond the UK. The benefits of a European head office include lower operational costs, EU single market access and recruitment flexibility of a multi-lingual talent pool. “The high standard of research services our members, governments and the stakeholders around the world, receive will continue to be at the forefront of our work and we are confident we will attract high-quality talent in the wider European market, for all of our services to members globally.” After a very successful Global Summit held in Rome, Italy earlier this month, WTTC is to hold its next Global Summit in Malta in September 2026.
Italy among Europe’s top destinations: new report reveals 13.4% share of travel intent and growing off-season momentum
Italy strengthens its position as the top destination among European travellers, according to the latest Italy Digital Destination Report 2025, conducted by The Data Appeal Company in collaboration with Mabrian, both part of the Almawave Group. This year’s analysis examined 29.5 million digital traces across 772.000 points of interest — including accommodations, short-term rentals, attractions, cultural sites, and restaurants — to capture travellers’ perceptions and experiences across the country between 1 September 2024 and 16 August 2025. A key technological innovation marks this year’s analysis: for the first time, digital traces were processed using advanced Large Language Models (LLMs) of generative artificial intelligence — a new feature integrated into Data Appeal’s proprietary DMO platform. “After ten years of Italia Destinazione Digitale, it’s clear that the way we understand tourism has profoundly changed, and artificial intelligence now plays a central role in this transformation. AI allows us to interpret not only data, but the emotions and meanings that travellers express through millions of digital traces. Together with Mabrian, we’ve revealed how people experience and share their journeys, uncovering key megatrends such as the rise of solo travel, the shift toward shoulder seasons, and the growing love for nature. This evolution towards semantic and sentiment-based intelligence is reshaping how destinations read reality, anticipate change, and design more inclusive and sustainable strategies,” said Mirko Lalli, CEO & Founder, The Data Appeal Company (Almawave Group). “Italy Digital Destination is a reflection of the journey taken by the Almawave Group in the field of data and artificial intelligence" highlights Valeria Sandei, CEO of the Almawave Group, "This report demonstrates how AI can be a concrete support for tourist destinations, providing knowledge and planning tools in a country with a strong tourism focus like Italy. Combining the expertise of The Data Appeal Company and Mabrian confirms the Group's commitment to creating value for the industry by putting technology at the service of an increasingly aware and sustainable tourism”. The exclusive report shows that Italy captures 13.4% of total travel intend in Europe over the next six months. When focusing on Southern Europe, this figure rises to 34.2% of all flight searches aiming at the region. These numbers confirm Italy’s leading position and highlight an upward trend in off-season travel, particularly during autumn and winter. “Italy is — and will remain — a travellers’ favourite, as our travel intelligence reveals. But what is driving visitors to Italy? A diverse mix of motivations. While culture remains the most powerful demand driver, nature, outdoor activities, and active tourism are gaining ground, with gastronomy continuing to stand strong. The data show that non-seasonal and a more diverse mix of experiences are consolidating, reflecting global shifts in traveller preferences when choosing a destination,” added Àlex Villeyra, Chief Operating Officer at Mabrian. The study—conducted through careful analysis using AI destination management platforms D / AI Destinations and Mabrian—which examines Italy’s key tourism trends, highlights that cultural tourism remains the country’s main attraction, with an overall sentiment score of 89.6/100. The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and Milan Cathedral are leading this trend and are expected to remain the most reviewed cultural sites. At the same time, nature, active tourism, and gastronomy are growing in importance as complementary motivations. Visitor composition remains stable, with 40% domestic Italian travellers and 60% international visitors, mainly from Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Spain. Most trips are made by couples (40%) or families (30%). Solo travellers are on the rise—up two percentage points—particularly in Rome, Florence, and Venice, where they value staff hospitality and food quality but highlight inclusivity and value for money as areas for improvement. Accommodation is one of the most appreciated aspects for tourists travelling to Italy, with hospitality being the most valued factor (Sentiment 84/100). Short-term rentals score even higher thanks to positive perceptions of location and host friendliness (87.8/100). The food and beverage sector continues to perform well, although costs and service quality remain the most criticised elements (86.4/100). While OTA prices have remained stable so far, they are expected to increase by 17% over the next six months, with peaks during New Year’s and Easter, confirming the growing momentum of the shoulder season. Compared with last year, online reviews dropped from 35.5 to 29.5 million, likely reflecting a shift towards new digital formats such as videos, reels, and TikTok reviews.

From Milan to Marseille: France steals Italy’s crown in luxe travel rankings
France has emerged as the world’s top destination for luxury hotel bookings in 2025, surpassing Italy for the first time since 2019. According to new data from Global Travel Collection (GTC), luxury bookings in France soared by 64% year-over-year in July, driven by high demand for top-tier stays in Paris, Nice, and Marseille. The data marks a turning point in European luxury travel patterns. Paris alone accounted for 2,710 booked nights, followed by 1,313 in Nice and 286 in Marseille. Industry experts point to France’s investment in high-end properties, cultural heritage, and diverse experiences as key factors behind the surge. French Elegance Leads Global Trends France’s luxury edge comes from its blend of city glamour, coastal charm, and countryside retreats. Palatial stays such as Le Bristol in Paris, The Maybourne Riviera overlooking the Mediterranean, and Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes were among the most sought-after. Average daily rates reached $1,400, with affluent travellers seeking exclusive, personalised service over price sensitivity. The Palace label—France’s highest hotel designation—further boosts its luxury status. With 31 properties holding this rare distinction, Paris stands as the global capital of Palace hotels. Meanwhile, regions like the Riviera, Alps, and wine country offer everything from seaside glamour to vineyard wellness. Luxury Beyond the Cities The French Alps continue to attract winter tourists with ski-in, ski-out Palaces such as Cheval Blanc Courchevel and Les Airelles. The Atlantic coast and wine regions—including Bordeaux and Champagne—blend wellness, wine, and heritage. Corsica’s rugged beauty and high-end comfort add a quieter, secluded dimension to the country’s offerings. GTC’s global influence underscores the trend. In 2024, the network generated $2.3 billion in luxury sales across 179 countries, planning nearly 900 ultra-luxury journeys worth over $100,000 each. Italy and UK Still Strong Players While France now leads, Italy remains a close second. GTC bookings show 777 nights in Rome, 725 in Milan, and 679 in Naples. Properties such as Hotel Eden and Passalacqua remain traveller favourites, but demand is more evenly spread across Europe. The UK saw a 13% increase in July bookings, with London hotels like Claridge’s and Ham Yard attracting luxury clientele. Spain also entered the top five, with strong performance in Barcelona, Madrid, and Ibiza, thanks to its mix of culture, design, and Mediterranean appeal. The luxury segment continues to outperform other categories globally. In the US, luxury hotel RevPAR rose 7.1% in early 2025, while Canada saw revenue growth driven by urban hubs like Vancouver and Toronto. European cities including Paris, Rome, and London command high rates with steady demand. The Michelin Guide’s 2024 introduction of “Keys” to rate hotels has added another level of distinction. In France, 24 properties earned three Keys, enhancing trust among discerning guests. With increased investment, new openings, and global recognition, France is poised to maintain its lead. Italy is expected to refocus on underexplored regions, while the UK and Spain may leverage their steady growth to gain market share. As affluent travellers seek authenticity and excellence, destinations offering diversity, design, and cultural depth will stay ahead. France’s rise in 2025 proves that a rich mix of tradition and innovation is key to shaping the future of luxury tourism.

As custodians of this beloved mountain retreat, it is a privilege to see it evolve under Aman – a brand that shares our deep reverence for place and commitment to excellence. This partnership allows us to celebrate our family’s legacy and three generations of hospitality, while embracing a future shaped by Aman’s uncompromising attention to detail and global perspective. Our mission remains the same: to preserve the authenticity and spirit of the region and for guests, past and future, to experience the timeless beauty of the Dolomites.” Design Now, as Aman Rosa Alpina, the property’s storied past intertwines with the brand hallmarks and design aesthetic, led by longtime Aman collaborator renowned architect Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston. The result is one of understated elegance, a profound sense of peace and an unmatched connection to extraordinary natural surrounds. At Aman Rosa Alpina the great outdoors anchors every space, with expansive balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows offering immersive views onto the majesty of the landscape. Adding comfort, glass-enclosed working fireplaces, opulent bathrooms and features such as walk-in wardrobes are present in most rooms and suites, bringing a touch of classic European elegance. Referencing the site’s original architecture and its mountain home, Jean-Michel’s design balances local craftsmanship and use of natural materials with the brand’s signature minimalism and restraint. Façades are clad in timber, dark metal accents add a contemporary touch and interiors are layered with stone, textured plaster and Italian artisanal details bringing warmth. With a design that responds intuitively to the day’s ever-changing light, the hotel’s 51 Rooms, Suites and Signature Suites, each draw inspiration from the raw beauty of the Dolomites. The pinnacle of Alpine living, the Aman Suite is the hotel’s largest, comprising two king-bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms with steam showers (one with a soaking tub), a dining area for six guests and a large south-facing terrace. Several interconnecting suites are also available, ideal for families and groups seeking space. Dining Central to the Aman Rosa Alpina experience is gastronomy, and the property presents a handful of distinct new venues for dining and socialising, each a celebration of seasonality and culinary artistry led by Executive Chef Gianluca Salvato. On arrival, the newly conceived Il Salotto welcomes guests into a magnificent, double-height space where expansive windows invite the outdoors in; the first of many spaces that frame mountain views. By day it is home to tea, coffee and light refreshments and by night, a vibrant spot for live music and cocktails. A homage to the hotel’s original piano bar, Il Salotto serves an intimate hub to meet and gather. The Grill is at the heart of the hotel’s culinary tradition. Offering wood-fired meats, fish and artisanal pizzas, diners can indulge on the open-air terrace in the summer, enjoying long lunches and alfresco dinners at dusk. Both a sunlit dining venue and a private events space, the Heritage Room serves as a timeless setting for daily breakfast; the Di Vino Room offers an intimate, reservation-only wine library for private dinners and expert-led tastings; and the Cigar Lounge showcases a curated selection of premium cigars and aged spirits in a discreet setting. Opening for the winter season, Akari will complete the roster with an elegant Shabu Shabu (hot pot) dining experience presenting a refined Japanese menu and rare sakes in a minimalist setting. Wellness Spanning 1,684 square metres and spread across two levels, the hotel’s Aman Spa has been designed to immerse guests further into the timeless tranquility of the surrounding peaks. Anchored by an arrival space enveloped by mountain panoramas, the spa comprises seven treatment suites, a 20-metre heated outdoor infinity pool, an indoor swimming pool, as well as a family pool, and extensive hydrotherapy facilities including a Finnish sauna, steam bath, Jacuzzi and a cold plunge pool. A dedicated Hair & Nail Salon, two medical treatment rooms and a Zen Garden further enhance the wellness offering, while a Fitness Centre and Yoga Studio support everyday wellness rituals. Signature treatments and therapies, including the Alpine Muscle Relief Massage, are distinct to Aman Rosa Alpina, designed to go hand-in-hand with mountain life and provide deep relief following active days of exploration. Rosa Alpina, Italy - Mountainscape10.jpg Outdoor Pursuits Outside of the hotel’s historic walls, a landscape of towering peaks, deep valleys and geographical marvels makes Aman Rosa Alpina a year-round mountain playground, each season offering a new form of adventure.
