Amman luxury hotel to be refurbished, reopened under Sofitel name by 2019

Le Grand Amman in Jordan, formerly operated by Le Meridien, now bears the name Le Grand Amman - Managed by AccorHotels. The French hospitality giant has announced that it will rebrand the property into becoming the first Sofitel Brands and Resorts hotel in the country once its initial refurbishment ends at the close of 2019. "This opening signifies the strategic expansion of our luxury portfolio in Jordan," shared Sami Nasser, AccorHotels Middle East COO for luxury brands. "While this property will be operated as Le Grand Amman - Managed by AccorHotels, we are delighted to announce that it will transition into Sofitel, making way for the entry of one of our most prolific luxury brands in Jordan." With 298 rooms and 67 serviced apartments, Le Grand Amman's amenities include two specialty & one all-day dining restaurants, a lobby lounge & bar, a pool bar, a spa, a health club, as well as indoor & outdoor pools. It also boasts of eight meeting rooms and the largest ballroom in Amman for use in meetings and events. The new AccorHotels property is at the centre of the Jordanian capital. Its location in the business and diplomatic district of Shmeisani keeps it within reach of the international airport as well as commercial hubs like the mixed-use Abdali Downtown Project, which is currently under development. Along with Le Grand Amman - Managed by AccorHotels, the French company’s other properties in Jordan include the Fairmont Amman and the ibis Amman. All three join more than 100 hotels in the AccorHotels Middle East portfolio, which will include an additional 90 hotels across the luxury to economy segments in its five-year development pipeline. AccorHotels has collaborated with Iskan Co. for Touristic and Hotel Investments to refurbish Le Grand Amman. Nine more five-star hotels to open in Jordan

To reinforce Jordan’s position as an up-and-coming tourist destination to UK travellers, major hotel groups Hyatt, Jumeirah, Starwood Hotels and Resorts and Ritz Carlton will open nine five-star properties throughout 2018. The hotels will open in the city of Aqaba – which is undergoing a billion-dollar expansion with the launch of two distinct resorts: Ayla Resort and Saraya Aqaba – and Jordan’s bustling capital city, Amman. The new developments showcase the growth of tourism in Jordan with UK visitors 9.1 per cent higher between January – August 2017 compared to the same period in 2016.   Aqaba AQABA: AYLA RESORT Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla 5-star Hyatt’s second hotel in Jordan - Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla - is scheduled to open in quarter two of 2018 and will offer business and leisure facilities in the heart of Ayla’s marina. The 286-room property including 43 suites will feature five food and beverage outlets, a private beach club, two pools, fitness centre, a resort destination spa, which will be the first to have an authentic Turkish hammam, plus Camp Hyatt for junior guests and conference facilities with an 1,870-foot ballroom ideal for social events and meetings.   AQABA: SARAYA AQABA Jumeirah Qasr Al Aqaba 5-star Qasr Al Aqaba is one of two new hotels operated by Jumeirah that is set to open in Jordan in 2018. It will offer 285 guestrooms and suites, as well as swimming pools with a private beach on the Saraya Lagoon. Guests will have access to a luxurious spa and fitness centre and a lively kids’ club. Jumeirah Al Qala’a 5-star The Al Qala’a will be Jumeirah’s second hotel, expected to open in 2018. In addition to guest rooms and suites, it will offer an all-day dining restaurant and two speciality restaurants - Lebanese and seafood, spa and fitness facilities and a kids’ club. Al Manara Saraya Aqaba 5-star Al Manara, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is set by Jordan’s Saraya Lagoon. Located on the shores of the Red Sea, the hotel features 207 rooms inclusive of 38 signature suites overlooking Saraya Aqaba lagoon or Negev and Sinai mountains. It is set to open in Q1 of 2018. Westin Aqaba Hotel 5-star At Jordan’s Saraya lagoon, The Westin Saraya Aqaba marks the debut of the Westin brand in Jordan. The hotel is a retreat on the shore of the Red Sea in Aqaba. Featuring 298 rooms, The Westin Saraya Aqaba is suitable for a family escape offering activities for children at the Westin Kids Club and a combination of different spa treatments at Heavenly Spa by The Westin. It is set to open in Q4 of 2018.   AMMAN The St. Regis Amman 5-star St. Regis will make its debut in Jordan with the opening of The St. Regis Amman. The St. Regis Amman will become a landmark attraction in the city’s affluent Abdoun district. The St. Regis Amman will have 260 luxurious guest rooms, including 40 branded residences, restaurants, a fitness centre, signature spa, and St. Regis’ iconic Butler service. It is set to open in May 2018. W Hotel Amman 5-star The W Hotel Amman is set to open in spring 2018 and will be a vibrant urban sanctuary styled in contemporary luxury and nestled in Amman’s financial district, amid traditional markets and ancient ruins. It will feature four restaurants, 280 rooms including 44 suites, a state-of-the-art FIT gym where guests can enjoy yoga on the sun terrace, an AWAY® Spa and a WET® outdoor heated pool. Fairmont Amman 5-star The newly opened Fairmont Amman is a five-star luxury hotel, centrally located; within walking distance of Amman’s most affluent neighbourhood of Abdoun and a five-minute drive from the new Abdali downtown urban centre. The hotel features 317 guestrooms and suites, restaurants offering diverse dining options from local food to Japanese cuisine, a luxurious 2,200 square metre spa and a state-of-the-art fitness centre. Ritz Carlton 5-star Ritz Carlton will complete its Fifth Circle development in 2020. The hotel will feature 230 guestrooms, a fitness centre, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spa and 1,000 square-metre ballroom.
